I’m excited to share a personal update on what’s happening behind the scenes here at the clinic. I am currently working toward my Level 3 YMCA Mat Pilates qualification, a journey that feels like the natural “next step” in how I support your health and recovery.

Why Pilates?
You might think of Pilates as just another workout, but its origins are deeply rooted in rehabilitation. Created by Joseph Pilates, this practice focuses on the “powerhouse”—the deep muscles of the core that act as a natural corset for your spine.
The core fundamentals of Pilates focus on:
- Spinal Support: Specifically targeting the stabilisers that alleviate low back pain.
- Controlled Movement: Moving with intention rather than momentum.
- Functional Strength: Building a body that can handle the demands of daily life without “giving way.”
From Calisthenics to the Mat: A Personal Discovery
Throughout my life I have been a big fan of calisthenics (body weight training). I love being able to master control over my body’s during movement during exercise, which requires strength, concentration, balance and control. However, I’ve found that the more I dive into Pilates over recent years, the better my own training has become.
Pilates provides the “fine-tuning” that high-intensity, cardio or heavy weight lifting movement sometimes can miss. It’s helped me understand my own body’s alignment and core engagement on a much deeper level. Seeing the benefits in my own life made me realise I want to share this with my patients.
Bridging the Gap in Your Recovery
I see it all the time: a patient finishes their course of treatment, feels better, but isn’t quite sure how to move safely on their own.
While “at-home” rehab exercises are vital, I know they can feel lonely or confusing. By introducing instructor-led classes, I can be right there with you. It’s a way for us to move from pain management to strength development in a supportive, supervised environment. It’s about giving you the confidence to move your body without fear.

Looking Ahead
I am currently deep in my studies and practical training to ensure I can give you the best possible instruction. My goal is to have these classes up and running by late 2026.
There isn’t a fixed start date just yet, as my priority is completing my qualification to the highest standard. However, I’ll be sharing my progress along the way!
